The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities

The University Paris Diderot – Paris 7 has today accepted the Guild¹s invitation to membership. Consistently ranked as one of France’s best universities, Paris Diderot is a founding member of Sorbonne Paris Cité, a higher education community comprised of four universities (Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris Descartes, Paris Diderot, and Paris Nord) as well as four Grandes Ecoles (Sciences Po, INALCO, EHESP, and IPGP). Located on the banks of the Seine, next to the National Library, University Paris Diderot is a pluridisciplinary university with particular research strengths in Area Studies (Far Eastern Asia, Anglophone Worlds), Psychoanalysis, and Mathematics (Arturo Avila, 2014 Fields Medal). Research strengths also include Astrophysics (its Astroparticle and Cosmology Research Team contributed to establishing the existence of gravitational waves in 2016), Life Sciences (bioinformatics, genetics) and Medicine.
On joining the Guild, the President of University Paris Diderot, Prof. Christine Clerici, said that “We hope that the Guild’s actions will increase the impact of our network’s collaborations, and enhance the effectiveness of its members in shaping the future of research across all disciplines at the European level”. In response, Ole Petter Ottersen, Chair of the Guild, noted that “In the University of Paris Diderot – Paris 7 we welcome a strong partner who will help us achieve our vision of excellence, and of being a closely-knit network that will make a difference through our collaboration, and our influence.”
