The Guild is pleased to share its latest position paper, which presents priority areas for Horizon Europe’s Health cluster formulated by the network’s academic communities. With this publication, The Guild continues its engagement with the programme’s Strategic Planning process and provides scientific advice about the strategic research priorities needed to improve people’s health and quality of life.
The priorities are articulated around six key challenges affecting European societies in the coming decades and cover the following areas: (1) Health throughout the life course and the role of environmental and social health determinants; (2) Non-communicable and chronic diseases, including rare diseases; (3) Communicable diseases; (4) Innovative, sustainable and accessible health systems; (5) New tools, technologies and digital solutions, including predictive technologies; and (6) Better health systems through academia-industry collaboration.
For each of these areas, the paper identifies the major challenges our societies face today, the expected impact of collaborative R&I, and which key R&I orientations will contribute to their achievement.
We look forward to engaging in further dialogue with the EU institutions and stakeholders on the implementation of Horizon Europe. Please join us on 3 July for a public event on the strategic priorities for European R&I with Jean-Eric Paquet (Director-General, DG RTD) and Guild academic experts in Health, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, and Digital and Industry.
